"Sapatos" (the film that I Directed and Co-wrote) bagged Best Short Film, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, and Best Child Actor awards in the GMA Artist Center 2nd Sindie Film Festival Awards Night held at Robinsons Galleria, Ortigas last October 19, 2008.

The Shortfilms included SINGAW, KUNTADOR, PAPA'S BOY, FIRST DATE, MANA, KAWAYAN, BANDERANG PAPEL, and SAPATOS (Directed and Co-written by Randy Vitales). The official run and premiere of the short films were held at the Indie Sine Robisons Galleria Ortigas from October 15 to 21, 2008.

It was an amazing experience, a turning point in my life as I pursue my dreams to be a great filmmaker. All the hardwork and effort paid off, I was already satisfied with one award, it was God's divine providence to give us four awards that night. An amazing birthday gift to start my 24th year in life. It was definitely a night that I would never forget. Many thanks for the people who have always believed and supported every "attempt" in which I have taken. For those who didnt watch, you dont have to worry! The film will have its "official dvd" soon to be out...

Summer spent well! I didnt just wanted to be a filmmaker, I wanted to be an advocate. Its not just filmmaking, its filmmaking with purpose and reason. After four Saturdays of intense film workshops, we are now ready to shoot and make great advocacy films. Here are some photos taken during the workshop.

The 4 session for the workshop was held 9am-5pm Saturdays of the entire month of May 2008. The lectures and exercises are now done, and now the production of the digital short film begins! We were divided into 9 groups with five to six members each. Each group was assigned a director, DOP, AD, PM etc. The films that will be produced are based on the Millenium Development Goals (MDG).

With an impressive line-up of speakers and seasoned film veterans, the scholars/participants were educated and immersed in various film and advocacy concepts and trainings. The jampacked schedule were as follows:

Launching - UPNCPAG (April 26)
Session 1 - Media Advocacy, Social Artistry, Screenwriting (May 3)
Session 2 - Cinematography (May 10)
Session 3 - Film Directing, Storyboarding, Editing Concepts (May 17)
Session 4 - Production Management, Independent Filmmaking (May 24)

ABOUT DV8 FILMMAKING CAMP

Mentorship, Production, Festival, Awards
THE COMPONENTS of the DV8 Filmmaking Camp involves the conduct of forum on the role of media and the youth in promoting the Millennium Development Goals with the focus on making the participants understand the issues related to development in the Philippines; facilitative enhancement of skills on advocacy filmmaking where assignments and exercises become an integral part of the pre-production; and actual production of at least 10 to 20 short features and public service ads/TVCs that will be used as an educational/awareness campaign tool to promote the Millennium Development Goals in schools and communities nationwide through the DV8 FILM FESTIVAL '08, Campus Tours/Road shows and other means of distribution.
